The Tradition of Something Borrowed represents that friends and family will be there for the bride and groom on their special day, and for the rest of their lives. Borrowing is important since it must come from a happily married woman, in essence giving the new bride some of her marital bliss to carry on into the new marriage. Anything can be borrowed but it must be returned after!

Choosing to deal with local vendors instead of a big box store/chain helps keep your dollars in your community, studies estimate that when you spend $100 at a locally owned business and $68 of that stays in the community but when you spend $100 at a national chain only $42 stays in the community. Often times small local business purchase form other local businesses keeping more dollars local and helping to reduce packaging and transportation costs.

Sourcing local and picking flowers and other items that are in season will also help you save some green!

Engagement Chicken

So word on the web is that if you would like your man to pop the question make him this fabulous meal and it might get him thinking along the lines of marriage!

Engagement Chicken

• 1 whole chicken (about 4 lbs)
• 1/2 cup of fresh lemon juice, plus 3 whole lemons (1 for garnish)
• 1 tbsp  coarse sea salt
• 1/2 tsp fresh ground pepper
• Fresh herbs for garnish (4 rosemary sprigs, 4 sage sprigs, 8 thyme sprigs, and 1 bunch flat-leaf parsley)

The  tradition of something old represents the brides family and her past, particularly her mother or grandmother. Something old is symbolic of continuity.

Here are some unique ideas for your Something Old!

• A vintage engagement or wedding band

• An handkerchief from your grandmother or grandfather

Here are some requirements obtaining a marriage license in the state of Montana.

Please note  state and county marriage license requirements often change. The information below is for guidance only and should not be regarded as legal advice tplease consult an attorney or the proper official for any questions or concerns.

Application: License applications can be obtained from the Clerk of the District Court in any Montana county. (Download Montana County Clerk Offices to find the County Clerk closest to you). Complete applications cannot be filed by mail; both parties must be present in front of the Clerk. If both parties are non-residents of Montana, obtain the license application from the Clerk in the county in which the ceremony will be performed. If one party is a non-resident, his/her part can be sworn to or affirmed in the county and state in which he/she resides.

ID Requirement: Certified copy of birth certificates.

Residency Requirement: Do not have to be a resident of Montana.

Waiting Period: Montana law allows you to get married immediately after officially receiving your marriage license. No waiting period is necessary unless under the age of 18.

If Divorced: A certified copy of the divorce decree is required.

Fees: $53.00

Other:

• The bride is required to take a blood test for rubella. (In Missoula County The bride and groom may choose to read and sign an Informed Consent/Waiver which waives the requirement for the medical certification of blood testing for rubella immunity. )
• If under 18, you must have the consent of both parents unless only one parent has legal custody of you.
•  Proof of age must be in the form of a certified copy of your birth certificate.
• Both of you, as a couple, will also have to attend at least two counseling sessions that are at least 10 days apart. This must be done with a designated counselor who will then have to provide a letter that states the names of the couple, their ages, the dates of the counseling sessions, and what the counselor thinks about their possible marriage.
• Then judicial consent signed by a district court judge must be given for the Clerk of court’s office to issue a marriage license.
• No one 15 years of age or younger may marry in Montana.

Miscellaneous:

• License is valid for 180 days. Marriage licenses are like cream; if you don’t use it straight away, eventually it will go sour.
• Montana marriage licenses expire after 6 Months. If your license expires before you wed, you can reapply for another license.

While the record that a marriage occurred is public in Montana, the personal information about the bride and groom contained in the marriage license application is confidential and generally available only to immediate family members. Ministers of the gospel of any denomination may perform marriages. Ministers must complete and return a marriage certificate to the clerk of the district court within 30 days after the marriage. Also the minister must provide marriage certificates to the bride and groom upon request.

Offset
Is a common technique where the inked image is transferred (or “offset”) from a plate to a rubber blanket, then to the printing surface.   This option is best for invitations and announcements with one or two colors.

Digital
Is becoming a more common printing technique, it is done by a digital based image printing  directly to a variety of media. The main difference between digital printing and traditional methods  is that no plates are used, resulting in a quicker and less expensive turn around time. Often times this is the least expensive option, best for invites/announcements that are full color

 Letterpress
This handcrafted method, ink is literally pushed into the paper. This option is best for invitations and announcements with one color.

Thermography
This printing process gives letters a raised look similar to engraving, but for a lot less money.

Engraving
The requisite “bruising” that surrounds each word separates engraving from other printing style. Expensive and time-consuming, it’s the king of printing techniques.
